  • I specialize in helping teens and adults overcome anxiety, confusion, depression, and dissatisfaction with life by leading them to discover the deeply hidden resources of their own minds in entirely new ways.

My psychology philosophy is simple: Everyone has within them a fundamental aspect of themselves that instinctively seeks safety, clarity, autonomy, connection with others, purpose, and meaning. For many of us, this part of the mind is obscured, distorted, or in some cases has never even been recognized. But it is there in you—it is the very nature of your mind’s essence. That’s the heart of our work together. Through the connection we build together, we’ll explore your history, your worldview, and your ideas about your struggles, and how they relate to your emotions, feelings, and behavior, so your self-awareness grows and your understanding of what prevents your happiness becomes clear. When we understand what’s in the way, the path toward living a more meaningful and joyous life appears.

  • I work with teens and adults across the lifespan who are navigating anxiety, depression, inner conflict, and the enduring impact of unresolved trauma. Many come seeking clarity around identity, particularly where family, culture, and personal values intersect or collide.

I believe that every person carries an inner core that seeks safety, meaning, and connection. When life experiences go unseen or unheard, this core can become buried and later emerge as confusing, overwhelming, and self-defeating patterns—sometimes taking the form of complex trauma responses, such as PTSD or dissociation. These responses are not pathology, but the nervous system’s effort to survive long after danger has passed, even when the present environment is safe.

In therapy, I work collaboratively to trace present struggles back to their roots, exploring the why behind thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, including those shaped beyond conscious awareness. Together, we reflect on your lived experiences, inner responses, and relational patterns, noticing how they continue to influence your present life.

Grounded in trauma-informed care, mindful reflection, and cultural humility, my work is person-centered and resilience-oriented. I also integrate expressive arts—such as images, symbols, music, brief visual media, or movement—to support clients in accessing, expressing, and reimagining their inner narratives. My aim is to help clients reconnect with themselves, cultivate awareness and resilience, and create meaning even amid uncertainty and marginalization, so growth can unfold with clarity, dignity, and humanity.

Laurie Shiers, CPCC
Creative Embodiment Coach

  • I specialize in working with smart, high-functioning folks who suffer from anxiety and imposter syndrome. My clients are usually great at talking around what’s happening and less great at feeling what’s really going on. The work I do helps them slow down, get out of their heads and into a quieter space where they can regulate and rediscover what they truly want.

My approach is rooted in a simple belief: that beneath the noise, the pressure to perform, and the patterns we’ve internalized lies a deeper intelligence—expressive, curious, and wired for meaning. It doesn’t need to be taught; just remembered. That’s the heart of our work together.

Using Embodied Creative Processing (ECP), which includes expressive arts, guided reflection, and play, we create space to access that inner knowing. Rather than relying solely on analysis, this approach supports self-awareness through experience—what we make, move, sense, and feel. This isn’t about performance or producing a beautiful end product. It’s about permission.

My work is not therapy but can be deeply therapeutic. It’s a complementary space where insight arises through making, moving, and feeling. Where you’ll begin moving toward alignment—with your values, your vitality, and your next meaningful step. And as clarity returns, so does confidence.
